3-D Digital Model Making: Using SketchUp in your Classroom
Limited Capacity seats available

SketchUp is an easy to use 3-D modeling app that provides a higher level of sophistication for a wide-range of drawing applications: architecture, interior design, landscaping, mechanical engineering, etc. In this session, participants will receive a basic overview of the drawing tools within the app, the opportunity to re-create a two-dimensional drawing into a three-dimensional model; view practical classroom examples, and explore how this application can be used to support lesson goals in their own classroom. Links to tutorials and online support will also be provided

Participants in this session will be able to
- Understand the nature of using a 3-D modeling versus a 2-D drawing application
- Navigate through the SketchUp screen
- Locate and use the tools in the toolbar used to create and manipulate models
- Locate and access the panels to investigate and enhance models
- Practice basic tool use by following guided instruction
- Recreate "Snoopy's Doghouse" from a two dimensional drawing, starting with a - blank document and following modeled instruction
- Identify lessons that would benefit from using this tool; identify student learning that could be supported and/or enhanced from using this tool
- Adapt a lesson in which SketchUp would be a useful tool in supporting and enhancing student learning

Activate your critical thinking and creativity skills through the use of the Hummingbird Bit Robotics Kit in this introductory workshop. Educators will engage in hands-on learning with the lights, sensors, and motors included in the Hummingbird Bit kit. You will be making, building and coding to create simple prototypes and explore connections to content areas. 3-D Digital Model Making: Using SketchUp in your Classroom

SketchUp is an easy to use 3-D modeling app that provides a higher level of sophistication for a wide-range of drawing applications: architecture, interior design, landscaping, mechanical engineering, etc. In this session, participants will receive a basic overview of the drawing tools within the app, the opportunity to re-create a two-dimensional drawing into a three-dimensional model; view practical classroom examples, and explore how this application can be used to support lesson goals in their own classroom.
